About Jaybirds
Jaybirds is a band of 5 friends that started in the little town of Haslet, TX in 2018.
Our lead singer and rhythm guitarist, JP Walsh, has been writing music for many years, but in 2018, he decided to form a band with our lead guitarist, Braedon Ward. Jenna Walsh was brought in for some background vocals and tambourine. The band's rythym was made whole in spring 2021 with the addition of our drummer, Connor Mullen! In fall 2025, Cameron Butterfield joined Jaybirds as our newest bass player!
For the first couple of years, the band played a couple shows at a music festival in Denton, TX, but mostly focused on recording our first album, “Let it Break” for release in 2021. Once the album was complete, we hit the ground running playing show after show around Fort Worth, TX and Denton, TX that same year! We even had multiple nominations for the Fort Worth Weekly magazines “Best of 2022”, and ultimately won best song with “Honey Bee”!
Today, Jaybirds is still rockin' and rollin' around DFW and Denton with a plan to release a new album in the coming year.
J.P. Walsh
Lead Singer/Rhythym Guitarist, Est. Band 2018
J.P. is an Air Force brat born in Guam but currently residing in Fort Worth, TX. He started playing and singing at a young age. He built his sound through listening to artists like The Beatles and Tom Petty and leading worship at church in high school and on into his early 30's. While attending college, he was the lead singer of the band, The Stolen Season. You might even be able to find CD's around Denton, TX today!
J.P. has been writing music for as long as he can remember. Some mornings, the band will wake up to a FULL DEMO of a song he wrote/recorded, dated around 2 or 3 a.m.!
When he is not doing music (or sleeping, apparently), he's spending time with Jenna, their boys and family or playing roller hockey with his son, Westyn!

Braedon Ward
Lead Guitarist/Vocals, Joined 2018
Braedon was born in Lexington, KY and now lives in Denton, TX with his wife, Lauren and their dog, Bowie.
He began playing guitar at a young age and started using those skills by serving on the worship team at church with J.P. while in high school. After revealing a hidden vocal skill, he quickly moved into a worship leader role for the youth kids and eventually for an entire campus.
He was the first to join Jaybirds in 2018 as the lead guitarist and helps fill in harmonies on stage when he's not melting our faces off with his lead solos!

Jenna Walsh
Singer/Tambourine, Joined 2020
Born and raised in Fort Worth, Jenna rounds out our sound with her favorite harmonies. If you hear 2-3 vocals on our record, it is probably her!
Jenna started singing at a young age, but honed in on her sound during her middle and high school years through her love of singing at church, school choir and providing vocals for her brother, Wesley Davis' band. In fact, her very first gig was at a coffee shop with Wesley after being heard performing "The Sweater Song" by Weezer for her senior varsity choir talent show.
Fast forward almost 20 years, J.P. and Jenna are married and live in Fort Worth, raising three boys together while working full time and enjoy singing together in their free time on the worship team at church and with Jaybirds.

Connor Mullen
Drummer, Joined 2021
Connor was born in Sacramento, CA but currently resides in Denton, TX.
His love of time-keeping started in middle school with an interest in learning to play the drums. Jenna actually gave him his first drum set! He quickly picked it up and started playing on the worship team at church where he met the rest of the band. His skills were further tightened through the drum line in high school.
Connor repeatedly surprised everyone with how well he played! J.P. knew how good he was and immediately offered the spot to him to join Jaybirds even before he graduated high school.
